Kings face Cowboys in Saturday 1 p.m. clashIt always feels good after a victory, and in the words of Kings’ coach McHatton, “this one felt especially good.” On Saturday, when the Kings football squad defeated the Westside Panthers, 19-6, they proved history doesn’t always repeat itself. The win over Westside puts the Kings in the championship game against the Cowboys at 1 p.m. this Saturday. The loss to the Kings was Westside’s first of the season. The game was nip and tuck with both teams holding each other in check until quarterback Kaelin Deboskie and Jordan Robinson connected for a 30-yard touchdown strike on the Kings’ fourth possession. The Kings put six more points on the board in the first half and headed into the locker room with a 13-0 lead. Westside’s potent offense was held in check during the first half by a stingy Kings’ defense led by Deboskie, Jamian Maes and Tristen Daniel. It was more of the same in the second half, as the Kings’, riding the 13-0 lead, kept it conservative and turned to the running game of Amonai Itaaehau. Itaaehau controlled the game in the second half as he racked up almost 100 yards rushing. Saturday’s appearance in the championship game is the by far the biggest game in the clubs 3 year history.
