OVERVIEWKenny King Charities, Inc. is a 501-c-3, non-profit organization with a mission of making a positive impact and equipping lives of young people. While Kenny King Charities, Inc. utilizes several avenues to accomplish its mission, youth football through the King's Football Club and the Kenny King Tackling Books Reading Program are the two main focuses of our organization. At Kenny King Charities, Inc., we believe through mentorship programs, the discipline of playing football and the knowledge learned from reading books will successfully equip America's youngsters to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. Reading failure contributes to long-term negative consequences in the student's development of self-confidence and motivation to learn. Poor reading performance and lack of motivation to read result in achievement disparities that grow in magnitude as students progress through each educational level and remain for life. Lack of reading skills have a direct impact on quality of life as the student progresses into adulthood.
University of Alabama football great and NFL Baltimore Raven Kenny King overcame reading difficulties to graduate with honors at the University of Alabama. Kenny's NFL career presents him with a unique opportunity to give something back and provide resources and a motivational boost to children and teachers in grade K through 3. Kenny King's Tackling Books Reading Program has been developed with the assistance of recognized early childhood educational professionals to increase each child's potential by enhancing reading skills and creating a desire to read at an early age. READING PROGRAMKenny King's Tackling Books Reading Program is designed to enhance current elementary school reading programs by working with educational professionals to provide incentives and resources to improve reading skills. The program is completely supported by Kenny King Charities, Inc.
TACKLING BOOKS PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Tackling Books Reading Program brings recognized college and professional athletes into the public schools to impress upon students at an early age the importance of reading. The athletes-volunteers develop a working partnership with selected elementary schools throughout the academic year and participate in reading sessions and motivational visits. The Program seeks to reinforce the students' understanding of the importance of reading and develop self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
Program specifics are developed with the selected schools teachers and reading specialists and uses established reading objectives and standards. The purpose of the Program is to provide enhancements to on-going reading education in the form of motivational visits, resources, incentives and awards.
